Russian Visa Application

Russian visa application is completed electronically (you can always save and return to it).

Original Passport

Your physical passport must maintain validity for a minimum of 6-months beyond your departure date.
Please note that the amendment pages located at the back of your passport are not visa pages and are not acceptable for visa issuance.
If you've run out of visa pages, please renew your passport before applying for a visa.

One (1) Passport Photograph

Please provide one (1) recent passport photograph, captured in the last six months, printed on photo paper.
For your convenience, you'll have the option to upload a digital photo* (additional fee applies).
*Face the camera directly without objects behind you and do not wear eyeglasses, headphones, or earbuds (click for sample).

Original Russian Visa Invitation

You must provide either the original invitation letter approved by the Russian Government, a Telex number, or an electronic invitation from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This document may also be referred to as "visa support" or "letter of invitation."

Special Requirement: Born in Russia or Former USSR

For applicants born in the former USSR or Russia, please provide:
Copy of USSR passport with a stamp stating you left for “permanent residence abroad”, dated prior to February 6, 1992,


  • Or a copy of a “Visa to Israel” issued prior to February 6, 1992,
  • Or a copy of a Certificate of Naturalization issued prior to 1996,
  • Or a document confirming the renunciation of your Russian citizenship,
  • Or a copy of the main pages of a passport of a former USSR state, issued after February 1992,
  • Or a signed letter of explanation, if you have no documentation, addressed to the Russian Embassy.

Adopted from Russia:

  • Please submit a Certificate of Renunciation of Citizenship obtained from the Russian Embassy (adoption papers is not required).
  • We cannot assist with Renunciation of Citizenship: please contact the Embassy directly.
  • !! In accordance with Russian law, visas can not be issued to Russian citizens with expired passports.
    !! The Embassy may request additional documents and an in-person interview at their discretion.

Minors - Under 18

Applicant under the age of 18 must submit:

  1. A copy of the minor's birth certificate,
  2. A signed statement from both parents, specifying the purpose and duration of the visit,
  3. A copy of both parents' passport, driver's license, or ID.

Additionally, an extra consent letter from the parent(s) is needed if the child or children are traveling alone or with a guardian.
