What is an expedited passport?
An expedited passport is a type of passport processing service that allows applicants to receive their passports in a shorter timeframe than the standard processing time. To obtain an expedited passport, the U.S. government typically requires an additional fee and proof of travel (flight/cruise/tour itinerary).
You can expedite your passport application through the United States Postal Service or by using a third-party expeditor, such as VisaHero. The advantage of using a third-party expeditor is that the passport application is hand-delivered to the passport agent inside the Passport Agency and processed within the processing time you purchase on our website. Please note that the processing time is agreed upon by our local Passport Agency and the Commercial Courier, and it is subject to change.

In the case of New, Lost, Damaged, or Child Passport Services, an Acceptance Agent at the Passport Acceptance Facility is obligated to confirm the identity of applicants as directed by the State Department. This measure is crucial to prevent identity theft, which is a prevalent concern.
Do both parents need to be present for the child's passport application?
Yes, both parents and child must appear in front of a Passport Agent.
However, if a parent has a scheduling conflict, he/she can complete and notarize a DS-3053 form, giving consent for the child’s passport process. If you have full custody of the child (you must provide original paperwork to prove it), the other parent doesn’t need to be present.
If you’re expediting a child passport through a third-party expediter, such as VisaHero, both parents and child must appear in front of an Acceptance Agent at the Passport Acceptance Facility.
Please review the requirements carefully, as explained on VisaHero’s child passport page.

What is the difference between passport and visa?
A U.S. passport is essential for U.S. citizens who wish to travel internationally. It is recognized as a primary travel document and is used for entry into and exit from foreign countries.
A visa for travel is an official endorsement or stamp placed in a passport by the authorities of a foreign country. It grants the holder permission to enter and stay in that country for a specific purpose and duration.
While a U.S. passport allows you to travel internationally, it does not automatically grant you the right to enter every country. The need for a visa in addition to a U.S. passport depends on the visa requirements of the country you intend to visit.
